Risk assessing is a legal requirement under the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1992.

Risk assessment would normally take the following format:

  • Recognise the hazard. A hazard is something that has the potential to cause harm.
  • Evaluate the level of risk to measure the likelihood that the hazard will cause harm.
  • Determine the degree of controls required.
